Spirit Island

Spirit Island is one of the most photographed and symbolic places in Jasper National Park, visible from Maligne Lake and visited by boat cruises or by paddling. The island is small and access is limited to preserve its character; most visitors take a guided cruise that stops briefly for photos and short walks.

Beyond its visual appeal, Spirit Island holds cultural significance for Indigenous peoples and is part of the Maligne Lake landscape of steep mountains and clear glacial water. Book lake cruises in advance during summer and be prepared for limited time ashore on most tour options.
