Jasper, AB
Maligne Canyon is one of Jasper’s most dramatic natural features: a deep limestone gorge with steep rocky walls, turquoise water and a sequence of bridges that reveal different views. The well-maintained trails and six bridges make the canyon accessible and rewarding for short walks or longer explorations.
In summer the canyon is lush and photogenic; in winter it freezes into spectacular ice formations and is a destination for guided ice-walks. Interpretive signage explains the geology and hydrology, including how some river waters disappear underground and re-emerge elsewhere.
